3 Wheeler Buggies
A three-wheeler is perfect for off-roading and provides a smooth ride for your infant. They are also easier to push and maneuver than a four-wheeler especially those equipped with slings made of fabric or modular seat units that are placed in a tight position within the frame and deliver the most efficient design and weight distribution.
Stability

A three-wheel buggy has excellent stability, which is the reason it is a great choice for off road walking (especially with an all-terrain or off-road style seat). They often feature oversized front wheels, which cope well with bumps and kerbs and rough ground. Some have a lockable wheels on the front for extra stability when driving on uneven terrain.
It's important to remember that 3-wheel buggies have a lower center of gravity than the 4-wheeled versions and, therefore, could fall more easily. The most reliable 3-wheeled pushchairs are built with the perfect geometry to ensure they remain solid in all conditions. They must be able to pivot at a whim, be easy to steer using just one hand, and feature a 360o swivelling front wheel which makes them ideal for maneuvering and navigating difficult terrain.
Look for models with pneumatic tyres. These are made to work on tracks that are not paved, and are able to withstand mud, gravel, rocks and other debris. Many all-terrain buggies come with a swivelling wheel on the front which can be locked for added stability when tackling very rough terrain.
A three-wheeled stroller is a great choice for those who run or enjoy walking fast uphill. This is particularly true if you intend to connect an infant car seat or carrycot. The Roma Atlas is a great example, with a world-facing seat that can recline flat and features a more comfortable 5-point harness and storage space for all your equipment (plus an extension of 50+ sun hood). It's light, compact, and suitable for use starting at birth. It can be used with a car seat or carrycot. It can also handle a bit of light jogging but isn't intended for serious runners.
Weight
If you are looking for a buggy to tackle difficult terrain, then you should choose one with big tires. They are designed to tackle dirt, cobbles, and grass tracks easily while providing an enjoyable ride. They're also good for jogging because they have built in suspension and are simple to move up and down kerbs. However, the drawback is that they are quite heavy to push.
The best 3 wheel buggy for rough terrain is the Mountain Buggy Urban Glide 2 (pictured above). This 3-wheel buggy has 16 rear wheels and an swivel wheel lockable to the front which makes it very maneuverable. It comes with air tyres that require occasional pumping and it can be used to carry a child up to the age of 3. MFM reviewer Kath says that her toddler loved the shape of the seat, and she was able to steer it easily with her 3 year old riding along.
3 wheeled pushchair is another excellent option. It comes with a movable handlebar, a hood made of high-end materials that provides 50+ UV protection as well as an extremely high-quality hood. 3 wheeled pushchair is also easy to move up and down kerbs and fits into a the boot of a car that is small. It can be used as a stroller along with baby carriers or toddlers.
Fabric slings are set inside the frame and not on top as modular seats. This design delivers a lower centre of gravity at the perfect height, instantly making it easier to push and lighter to kerb pop (you can never overestimate the amount of times you'll have to do that as new parents!)
Seating
The seating capacity of 3 wheelers is impressive and there are a variety of different options to pick from. For babies you have the option to use the carrycot (which MFM reviewer Alice says is a cozy and comfortable lie flat bed that can be used both on and off the buggy) and older infants and toddlers can sit in the world-facing or parent facing seat unit that is roomy and padded and does have adjustable ventilation. The seats don't recline fully, but they can be lowered to the lowest point. This should give your child plenty of room and headroom.
A fabric sling is also available. It has the advantage that it is positioned inside the frame instead of being placed on top of it as a seat that is modular. This results in a lower centre of gravity and a perfect weight distribution. This makes it much easier and lighter to push especially over bumpy terrain or curbs and MFM reviewer Kath really liked the way that this style of seat dealt with these challenges.
This type of buggy comes with a large basket and other beneficial features such as an hood that can be extended with 50+ UV protection, an easy to use brake pedal, and some unique visibility lights that can be placed on the front of the passengers to increase safety on rough terrain.
Alternatively, if you are searching for a single baby buggy that will adapt to your family's needs There's a brand new sport(tm) which is a world's first that can take a single infant from the moment of birth and adapt to take 2 or even 3 after your little ones have developed and all within the footprint of one buggy.
Storage
The 3-wheeled frame makes a buggy much more stable to push with one hand and also perfect for handling difficult terrain. However, it does mean that the shopping basket can't hold as much as a 4-wheeler buggy.
A high-quality ATP will have a top suspension, pneumatic tyres and padding for the handle to ensure your convenience. It will accept a carrycot or car seat, meaning you can use it from the time of birth.
The MFM reviewers noted that the 3-wheeler frames couldn't fit through their home's doors or car boot. If you're worried about space, be sure to verify the dimensions of the buggy when it is folded before purchasing.
It's worth looking for an SUV with three wheels that can fit 2 (or even 3!) This is the best option for your child's future and will save you money. The iCandy Strawberry Sport is among the most popular. It can be used as early as day dot as a single buggie and later converted into twin buggies after your baby is walking.
Tyres
Air filled tyres have been designed to give your child an easier ride by cushioning bumps and uneven surfaces. They are commonly used on pushchairs such as the Phil & Ted’s Sport which MFM reviewer Kath said offered "an amazing ride for her toddler". She also noted that the grippy tyres on the Phil and Ted's Sport made it simple for her to navigate the kerbs and other obstacles.
These tyres can be difficult to maintain and require air pressure regularly topped up. These tyres are more prone to punctures, and you should always have a repair kit and spare inner tube with you when you're out and out and about.
PU tyres are typically used on pushchairs since they are a cheaper option than air-filled tyres, but they are just as durable. PU tire are easily identifiable by their matte finish and supple feel. They also slide over smooth and tidy surfaces.
If you rub your hands over the tyres, you can tell if they're rubber or PU. If it feels like it's sliding, then it is a PU. You can also check that your buggy has PU tyres by slipping the tyres on a clean, flat surface - they'll be able to roll easily and should fit snugly in their wheel hubs.
3 wheeled pushchair can withstand the rough terrain of high-performance buggies. The drawback is that the foam could shrink and make your buggy feel less stable as it loses its springy feel. These tyres are also noisy because they generate lots of noise when you turn and drive around the town.
